Higher education in Maritimes attracts lower number of students

While historically the Maritimes have enjoyed an extremely high participation in university education  we were leaders in the country, now we’re at a stage that in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, we are just at the Canadian average.”

The commission’s statistics are further proof that government must act, says Students Nova Scotia, a not-for-profit advocacy group that represents more than 37,000 post-secondary students in this province.

“It’s a call to action for government to reinvest in programs that will allow for more people to access post-secondary education,” said group chairwoman Amy Brierley.
