Sophie Helpard

Executive Director As Executive Director of StudentsNS, Sophie is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization in accordance with the direction of the Board of Directors, notably as the organization's primary spokesperson, lobbyist, and manager. Sophie comes to StudentsNS after serving as President of the University Students' Council and studying Political Science at Western University in London Ontario. In her role as President, Sophie pursued advocacy-focused projects particularly at the provincial and federal levels through the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance, and the founding of a national advocacy group for U15 institutions. Sophie looks forward to learning more about the political landscape in Nova Scotia, and continuing the work of StudentsNS in strong policy, lobbying, and communications work. In her spare time Sophie enjoys talking about new restaurants, feminism, Gilmore Girls, municipal politics, and good books (and a few bad ones too).

Jacob Voye

Digital Content Coordinator Second year NSCC Information Technology student Jacob Voye has been appointed Digital Content Coordinator at StudentsNS. Jacob is an honours graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University with a degree in public relations. He has been associated with Students NS since 2013 as a co-op student and has continued his association in his role as recording secretary. Jacob is very pleased to be working with StudentsNS in his new capacity and looks forward to working on new projects for the upcoming academic year. In his free time you can find Jacob playing tennis, at the movies, catching Pokémon around Halifax and walking with his dog.

Lori-Ann Nunn

Office Manager Lori-Ann is StudentsNS' Office Manager, responsible for the organization's daily bookkeeping and for ensuring that the financial operations of the office run smoothly. With 13 years in financial and office administration in the private and non-profit sector, Lori-Ann brings a wealth of experience to her part-time role with the organization. She is a graduate of Nova Scotia Agricultural College with a diploma in Landscape Horticulture, and Nova Scotia Community College with a certificate in Business Information and Technology. In her spare time, Lori-Ann enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and singing karaoke.
